Andy Mitran is a five-time Emmy Award-winning composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose career in music began in childhood. He gained national recognition as the Music Director and on-screen character "Professor Andy" for WGN Television’s The Bozo Show, the longest-running children’s television program in history.
Over the years, Andy has composed and produced hundreds of pieces for television, with credits including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Dr. Oz Show, and The Nate Berkus Show, as well as numerous currently streaming programs across multiple networks. As co-owner of Mitran Mitran Music, he has provided custom music composition, audio recording, editing, and sound design for some of Chicago’s most iconic brands, including the Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, WGN-TV, and Empire Today.
In 2010, Andy co-founded Perfect Choice Music Library, which continues to license music for television and film. His collaborative albums with songwriting partner Al Jewer have been nominated six years in a row for industry awards and have won two prestigious ZMR Awards for Desert Light and Surrounding Sky.
Beyond his own music, Andy is dedicated to helping artists bring their visions to life, having recorded, produced, or mastered numerous projects since 2002. He also served as a founding board member and president of the Mindful Music Association from 2016 to 2024, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the conscious use of music to alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression.
